Pet-Friendly Restaurants in the South Bay

— 3/8/2026 —

One of the joys of South Bay living is the year-round patio weather. And if you're a dog owner, that means plenty of opportunities to bring your four-legged friend along for brunch, lunch, or an afternoon coffee. We've scouted the best pet-friendly spots across Sunnyvale, Mountain View, and the surrounding South Bay so you don't have to eat alone — or leave your pup waiting at home.

A quick note: policies can change, so it's always worth calling ahead to confirm. And "pet-friendly" generally means dogs on leash on the patio — not inside the restaurant.

Dog-friendly patio at The Roost

The Roost

Downtown Sunnyvale

A cozy brunch spot with a spacious patio shaded by string lights and market umbrellas. The staff genuinely likes dogs — expect a water bowl to appear without you asking. The avocado toast is excellent, and the outdoor seating area is set back from the street, so there's less traffic noise to rattle a nervous pup.

Dog-friendly patio at Blue Line Coffee

Blue Line Coffee

Castro Street, Mountain View

This neighborhood coffee shop has a few tables out front that are perfect for a quick stop with your dog. They offer a simple menu of pastries, sandwiches, and excellent drip coffee. The sidewalk seating is right on Castro Street, so it works best for dogs who are comfortable with foot traffic and the occasional passing stroller.

Doppio Zero

Los Gatos

This Italian restaurant has a beautiful garden patio with plenty of space between tables — a blessing when your dog likes to sprawl. The pizza is wood-fired and the pasta is fresh, but the real draw for dog owners is the relaxed, European-café atmosphere. They even have a small menu of dog-friendly treats behind the counter.

Dog-friendly patio at Strike Brewing Co.

Strike Brewing Co.

San Jose (near the airport)

If you're looking for a laid-back afternoon with a craft beer and your dog at your feet, Strike is the spot. The taproom has a large outdoor area with picnic tables, and dogs are not just tolerated but celebrated. They host occasional "yappy hour" events with treats and a dog-friendly atmosphere that draws a loyal crowd of regulars and their pups.

Dog-friendly patio at Tacos El Camino

Tacos El Camino

Santa Clara

A no-frills taqueria with a covered patio that's surprisingly dog-friendly. The tacos are outstanding — try the al pastor — and the casual atmosphere means nobody bats an eye when your dog settles in under the table. There's a water spigot near the side entrance that locals use to fill bowls. Cash only.

Dog-friendly patio at Voyageur du Temps

Voyageur du Temps

Cupertino

This French-Japanese bakery has a handful of outdoor tables where dogs are welcome. The croissants are flaky, the matcha latte is top-notch, and the quiet setting on a tree-lined street makes it an ideal stop after a morning walk. Space is limited, so early mornings are your best bet for snagging a table.

Tips for Dining Out with Your Dog

Bring a portable water bowl and a chew toy or bone to keep your dog occupied. Choose off-peak hours when the patio is less crowded. If your dog tends to bark at passersby, opt for a spot with more space between tables. And always, always clean up after your pet — it's the surest way to keep these restaurants welcoming dogs for years to come.

One more trick: a tired dog is a better brunch date. A morning walk or a romp at one of the South Bay's dog parks beforehand makes patio manners come easy.
